Hi Gary, voltage settings are always depending on your style of tattooing, the machine you are using and your personal taste. You should take time with your machine to find out which voltage is the right for you and the machine. Generally most artists use voltages around 7v-9v for lining (8 should be a good start) and 8-10v for shading.

Hi Wayne, there is no specific stencil paper available to use over a blackout tattoo but the usual purple stencil paper should work fine on blackout tattoos as long as the lighting is good.Tattooing over a blackout tattoo needs a lot of experience to create a visible contrast after healing and oftentimes there will be more sessions needed to achieve a satisfactory result. Complicated, delicate ....

Hi Ana,we wouldn't recommend getting a face tattoo if you don't have a lot of tattoos on other parts of your body. Even a tattoo made with invisible ink could be visible because of the light scars a tattoo can produce. Also, UV ink could change the colour over time and become permanently visible when, for example, being exposed to sunlight (also some white tattoo ink is known to become ....

Hi Ingemar,Diamond tips are shaped like a V which resembles a diamond, therefore the name. They are great for smaller liner and round shader configurations (3's, 5's) because the needle doesn't have as much "wobble" room like in a round shaped tube. Also, the visibility of the needle is increased compared to a round shaped tube because of the design.Barber DTS

Hi CJ, thanks for your question. This is indeed a bit of a grey area within the tattoo industry. In terms of employment law, tattoo apprenticeships are not covered under UK employment law unless a contract has been drawn up and agreed between the artist/shop and the apprentice. An apprenticeship can differ from artist to artist, shop to shop. There is no set of conditions like....

Hi Gemma, thanks for your question. In the UK most councils require you to have a clean sink for hand washing and a 'dirty' sink for contaminated waste such as the water used for dipping your needle, mop bucket water etc. So, although going completely disposable will mean the dirty sink is not needed as much, it will still be needed for items used for cleaning the studio rather than clea....

Hi Bucc, thanks for your question. The best advice on shading Black & Grey is to use a suitable tattoo machine, the right needles and good black ink and/or greywashes. Most artists prefer a machine with a softer hit for this style (stroke 2.5mm - 3.5mm), shader needles and curved magnum needles. When it comes to ink we can recommend Eternal Ink's MAXX Black, which is great to thin do....

Hi, thanks for your question. The best we can advise on this question is to contact your local council. There doesn't seem to be a set UK law on this matter. We all know you have to be 18 to have a tattoo but in terms of actually tattooing someone else, or registering as a tattoo artist, it seems there's no set age but that it does vary between different locations and councils. T....

Hi Kristine, thanks for your question. We have done some asking around for you, it seems either option should suffice. You can apply each individually or both as one. We've also found out it can vary in different councils/locations across the UK so you're best checking with your local council to see how they'd like you to do it.

Hi Robin, there is not really a "best" speed or power for colour packing in those machines. The best way to find your perfect speed is by experimenting and practising. Also, other users who work in the same style and with those machines can tell you which power they prefer to give you a start.

Hi Voy, if you're working with modern tattoo equipment and disposables, you do not need an autoclave/sterilizer in your shop. You should, however, always take care that your equipment and working space is clean and free of bacteria and germs when working on a customer.

Hi, thanks for your question. We've asked around for you and most artists prefer a combination of both ceiling lights and tattoo lamps, as well as a good level of natural lighting from a large window. In regards to tattoo lighting, it's generally a mixed view. Some only use a
