Bastian originally was a painter. He never intended to become a tattoo artist and wanted to pursue fine art. He began tattooing when he couldn't see any style of tattooing that he himself would want. 

“My tattoo style is called Modern Dark Calligraphy.”

Over time, he found his own style which mixes blackwork with detailed accents. He calls this style Modern Dark Calligraphy. For Bastian, a tattoo is always a collaborative effort with his clients. Most of his works are created freehand and so are therefor always unique pieces that are worn with pride.
