The history of tattoos is not terribly well known, but the real mysteries are around the history of tattoos in regards to their spiritual uses. This book, by noted tattoo anthropologist Dr. Lars Krutak, provides us with a unique look at the magical beliefs that surround tattoos and scarification, particularly in tribal settings. The wisdom, healing, shamanic power and protection that the tattoos were thought to bestow, alongside a masterwork of photography, featuring subjects and their tattoos from all around the world. This is a two part book, featuring some of the most amazing facts and photographs you will ever find, and it is certainly a must read for any tattoo enthusiast, history buff or curious spiritual personality. This is a beautiful book and can make an excellent addition to your tattoo shop, either to give something for customers and artists to read during waiting periods or even to give a customer something interesting to look at while the artist is working. Of course it would also make a fantastic addition to the personal library of any tattoo artist or enthusiast. The book text is written in both English and German, and of course (being a very photography rich book) this is printed on an excellent quality of paper.
